Duinmanege van Poelenburgh is located in Schoorl, on the beautiful North Holland forest and dune area and has, among other things, two indoor riding arenas, two outdoor riding arenas: one dressage arena and one jumping arena, a lunging corral, several paddocks and a horse walker.
The equestrian center holds the safety certificate issued by the Foundation for Safe Equestrian Sports. A recognition that indicates that we value quality and safety.
We offer a variety of equestrian opportunities including dressage lessons, jumping and carousel lessons, outdoor riding weekends, instructional days and weekends, rider’s license course and equestrian camps. And because of its ideal location, you can enjoy beautiful forest/dune rides, beach rides and full moon rides. It is also possible to take a groundwork course with us to increase or improve the cooperation and contact between you and your horse/pony.
Also, our accommodation is perfect for company outings and parties as we have a professional instruction/meeting room, a spacious canteen, dormitories, group room and an apartment.

Safe riding
- Always approach a horse in a calm manner and let him know you are approaching by talking quietly to him.
- Always observe the horse carefully; you can tell how a horse is feeling by the position of its ears.
- Never secure a horse by its rein but use a halter and halter rope.
- Never walk right behind a horse.
- Always walk to the left beside your horse and not in front of him.
- When you put a horse in his stall, pasture or paddock, walk with him so that he faces the door or fence before you untie the halter.
- Always wear closed shoes or boots in stables and no flip-flops or sandals.
- Take your time when dealing with a horse.
- While riding, always wear a cap that meets current safety standards.
- Wear appropriate fitted clothing and no loose scarves or large jewelry.
- When riding, always wear boots or shoes with a smooth continuous sole with heel and smooth upper, combined with chaps.
- Always size your stirrups and do not place your feet in the stirrup straps, even when you are only on a horse for a short time.
- Follow the instructions of the instructor or staff of the equestrian center.
- As a beginning rider, do not only take riding lessons, but also learn how to handle a horse. We regularly organize grooming and saddle lessons, coaching classes and other courses on handling horses,
- Immerse yourself in a horse’s characteristics so you understand how he may react.
- Machinery and straw and hay bales are no place to play on, and keep an eye out for moving machinery as you walk around the yard.
- Ensure tidy hallways and stalls, do not leave stuff lying around.
